Since last Friday, the movie world is looking curiously at the Berlinale. The film festival is held for 61st time in the German capital. For movie lovers this weekend could be particularly interesting, when on the festival the “3D Sunday” is taking place. As an exception, two of the shown films are not action flicks like “The Green Hornet” (2011) or “TRON: Legacy” (2010), but documentaries.
The though to show movies of that genre in 3D is interesting and consequent. Especially Wim Wenders’ work on the legendary choreographer Pina Bausch can be a successful example, how the third dimension in movie theatres should not only be booked for blockbusters, but how it should be used also in more serious productions. The newfound depth in pictures could help to make the dancing scenes in Wenders’ production even more impressive for the viewers This really raises the hopes for more documentaries in 3D.
