Creating intros and outros with Movie Edit Pro

Though many users have difficulties creating intros for their movies, thanks to Movie Edit Pro, this is now incredibly simple. The new MAGIX video software offers a great selection of preset intros and outros with many different topics. In this article, we will explain how to use them.

First, we need to place video material on the timeline, so that we will be able to position our intro before the intitial footage. Later, we can cut and edit our movie and insert the outro at the end of the film. By the way, don’t think that the premade intro and outro sequences are only useful at the beginning and end. You can actually use them throughout the movie, as transitions from one section to another. You get to choose!

You will need to place more than one clip on track 1, since you are unable to work with just one 3-second clip. Click on the fourth tab “Effects” in the Media Pool. Then click on “Design Elements” and on “Intros/Outros” in the menu. You will see a selection of options. By simply clicking on one, you will generate a preview of the sequences in the video window.

Now let us try one out. Click on the first video clip on the timeline to activate it (it will turn yellow). By doing so, the program recognizes where to place the intro or outro. Now choose your intro or outro and insert it onto the clip by double-clicking it or drag & drop. You will see that you now have more than one layer on your video image. Don’t worry, that’s the way it should be. However, we still have the words “INTRO” / “OUTRO” in our used effect. Let us change this by clicking on the title bar in the timeline. It’s hard to find this list, as everything is colored in yellow. Simply click on an empty space within the timeline to restore the original color. You can double-click on the yellow title track to open it and insert your own text – just like with a standard title. Play back the track to see a great outro of your movie. And don’t forget to tell your friends that it was this simple.

However, there is one last thing I need to mention here: maybe you are not that keen on the music this program offers. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to remove the sound, since the effects and sound are coupled together as one complete element. To solve this problem, click on “Ungroup” (icon of broken chain) above the timeline. Then, you can change the sound, which is now a single element and replace it with one of your music tracks or a different sound effect of your choice – done!

Curious? MAGIX Movie Edit Pro makes it easy to create intros and outros and add them to your videos. Download a free 30-day trial version of Movie Edit Pro and create your own videos with fantastic intros and outros!
