This weekend, heaters in Berlin took a rest. After months of daily stress and work, the sun took over their responsibilities and warmed this winter-weathered city to spring temperatures. People went outside. The playec in parks. They danced down avenues. And in the simple joy of warmth, they splashed color and laughter onto the still slumbering sidewalks.
The only warm-weather activity that still seemed distant was swimming, but it was constantly on my mind. My whole being was ready to dive through some bouncy, inviting waves. I, however, looked down at my scarf and sweater to realize that I would have to be patient and wait.
To get myself excited, though, I have been listening to Friendly Fire’s song, ‘ Jump in the Pool’. This humorous song plays the beats of summer drums over a pool bottom’s gentle voice. The combination is refreshing and will be satisfying my dreams of swimming for the next month or so.
