Though I was not initially sure what or where Meyrin Fields are, the Broken Bells song with their name is simply addictive. I have now, however, figured out through Wikipedia that Meyrin is actually a small town outside of Geneva. It is a commuter town which is home to a few large corporations and around twenty-one thousand residents. Even with this information though, I find it a bit odd (or possibly ironic) that Broken Bells would name this song after a city in such a peaceful country.
Meyrin Fields is militaristic. It sounds like a contemporary war anthem. There is one voice that leads and then a battalion of secondary voices rise to engulf it. In unison they chant short, aggressive lines with caged passion with a repetitive background. The feeling is palpable, and Broken Bells have gotten me hooked.
Broken Bells have posted it on Soundcloud.
