Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last 5 years you will of noticed dubstep’s in your face presence as a sensation in the ever expanding list of sub-genres of electronic music. Rockin’ the dancefloors of the worlds best clubs, dubstep is all about energy and earth shaking bass. This weeks Music Monday featured artist is the producer Soul Scream aka Ivan Kharlamov. I originally came across his work on Youtube with the track Take me away. Suitably impressed I tracked down his SoundCloud page and all I can say is WOW. Soul Scream is a prolific producer with releases on many different labels. His work ranges in style but includes Dubstep, Drumstep, Drum & Bass, Progressive House, Progressive Trance, and Tech House. It’s hard to pick a favorite among the great tracks on display, all are produced with impeccable attention to detail and execution. At every level, from sonic design and technical virtuosity, to just some great music. I expect and hope we will here a lot from Soul Scream in the future.

Soul Scream – Take Me Away [ Prewiew ] [ Another World Records ] by Soul Scream

As part of the Music Monday feature we always like to get some feedback from the Artist. Soul Scream is a man of few words, preferring to let the music do the talking, but here is what he shared with us;

I have been using MAGIX Music Maker for 6 years. I was drawn to the software as I liked its simplicity of use. It allowed to get me ideas down without any complication, just letting me focus on the music. The track Take me Away, was worked on for a few days and the creation still has about three days left until completion. The idea of the track was born casually, likely inspired from DJ mixes and other productions I heard of works in this genre. My advice for other musicians interested in producing would be to have patience, crafting your skills takes time. You also need passion and desire for what you do and the music.
