Only a few Mondays left this year but we still some have some great music to share with you. This weeks track “Vinyl” comes from Kontrapoet aka Laszlo Mohr. It is a deep, melodic and melancholic techno track. Well even though it is melancholic it is still uplifting with subtle floating layers drifting in and out and intertwining. The whole affair feels very understated, never forced, and allows the listener to enter into the music on many different levels. I recommend checking out the other music on Kontrapoet’s SoundCloud page where there is a great collection of quality tracks.
As usual, we had a quick chat with Kontrapoet to get some feedback on the track and his production.
You used MAGIX Music Maker to create your project. What drew you to the program and how does it help you in your work?
A friend of mine bought it and was really thrilled about the simplicity and the sounds of the program. So i first downloaded the demo version and that convinced me, so I bought it.
How long have you been producing music and what drew you to it?
I´ve been seriously producing music for 2 months now. Before that I was only trying out and discovering the program. At first it took me very long to finish a track but now it sometimes only takes 1 day, for instance “Vinyl”.
How did you come up with the idea for this project?
I listened to a song of Paul Kalkbrenner and after that another song. Both were terrific and so I wanted to produce a song which is melodic, but also good for dancing. That is actually my intention, I want to produce music which you can listen to at home and also at parties.
What advise would you give other music makers who would like to go in the same direction?
Be patient and let many things inspire you. Sometimes you have no good ideas for days but then suddenly you produce a song which even surprises yourself in a positive way. Watch movies, read books, do everything which makes you feel something, so you can combine one or several feelings up in one song.
