In the search for artists to feature in MusicMonday it always a real pleasure to discover a talented producer doing great work. Whats even more encouraging is to hear the results that are possible when using inspiring software tools, for even a short time. While only producing music for a short time NeuroByte, aka Nico Vollquardsen has produced some really great tracks. The tools alone are not enough but it shows what is possible when a talented artists gets his hand on them. In the featured track Brainstorm, NeuroByte conjures all the energy and sonic goodness that makes a great dubstep track. Dirty synth sounds, slamming drums, and of course the wobbly bass all combined with precision! He displays skills beyond his short production career, definitively an artist to keep an eye on in 2012.

You used MAGIX Music Maker to create your project. What drew you to the program and how does it help you in your work?

In the summer of 2011, I felt like making music. As I could only play the keyboard I was looking for a music making application. I tried MAGIX Music Maker 17 and I had lots of fun with this and experimented with various sound files. In the beginning, my sounds were still really lame, but now, after half a year I’ve gained enough experience with the program to produce fairly decent music. I highly recommend it!

How long have you been producing music and what drew you to it?

I have been producing music since summer 2011. It was quite by accident, because I’ve always wanted to make music and I have just said, “Come, let’s make some music,” and started with MAGIX Music Maker 17, a synthesizer and a Game Boy – yes , a Game Boy.

How did you come up with the idea for this project?

I have a very experimental personality and listen to a lot of different electronic music genres. I took a couple of sound files, a few MIDI files and cobbled them together and scraped together a few independent sounds and started experimenting, it then became “Brain Shock”.

What advise would you give other music makers who would like to go in the same direction?

MAGIX Music Maker provides a wonderful opportunity to enter into the world of music-making, either for the beginner or for a musician to expand his hoirizons. This is always a great asset.
